Here’s some news that won’t bring onn an existential crisis:

  • A massive update to ChatGPT

  • AI copyright judge drops the coldest album of 2023

  • What if you could watch GoT - without the sh*t ending?

Businesses Can Now Train ChatGPT On Their Data

OpenAI is letting users upload their data so it can execute specific use cases that are too complex for a prompt.

In other words, fine-tuning.

Fine-tuning is when you customize an AI with instructions specific to you, such as marketing material, writing samples, or code formatting. Think of it as setting your preferences on a dating app…

And this is huge news.

āļø Here’s why: Great prompt engineering is still good for handling most tasks.

But, there are some tasks that a prompt simply cannot handle. For example, what comes to the top of mind is customer support.

For that, you’d want to fine-tune it with all the data you can, like:

  • Hundreds of real support examples.

  • Product documentation.

  • Thousands of FAQs.

If you want to learn how to fine-tune ChatGPT, here’s their full guide on how to do it.

Judge Rules That AI Art Can’t Be Copyrighted

AI has been painting up a storm, but can It be copyrighted?

*siren noises* 🚨

Judge Beryl just dropped a new album. It’s called Nope.

Long story short, she ruled that if the image doesn’t have that ā€œhuman elementā€ then it’s a no go.

Here’s my take: What does ā€œhuman elementā€ even mean?

I get what she means, but the wording isn’t specific enough. For example, let’s say I made a beautiful AI-generated toilet seat. I download that bad boy, and then, before submitting it to the copyright people via MySpace (or whatever you do in the process) I upload a singular pixel myself.

Then does it have the ā€œhuman elementā€, Beryl?

These are just some of the thoughts that go on in my head. If you want a more formal commentary on the matter, check out the article below.

Quick Bites (News)

Picture this: You just finished Game of Thrones… but instead of sitting there depressed that Bran is now the King, you can keep watching. Everything ā€œextraā€ is AI-generated. That’s the reality we’ll someday see according to Sinead Bovell, a futurist, who went on Social CTV and talked about a pretty crazy future we could live in.

According to a study conducted by researchers from the University of California, Microsoft, and others, AI bots have an accuracy rate of 85-100% in solving CAPTCHAs, significantly outpacing human accuracy which ranges between 50-85%.

We’ve all heard it a thousand times: AI won’t replace you, a person using AI will (yawn). But is it actually true? Looks like it. While a potentially seismic shift is coming to the workplace, this IBM report is a reminder that with the right retraining, workers can become enhanced users — not replaced.
