Happy Thursday. This is The AI Crunch, coming to you live from the kitchen table. Matthew Broderick misread his famous line in Ferris Bueller; it was supposed to be, ā€œAI moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop to look around once and a while, you might miss it.ā€

Here’s what we got for you today:

  • Wix launches announces AI website builder (prompt to site in 10 seconds)

  • Apple announces their ChatGPT competitor

  • ChatGPT is getting dumber… a lot dumber.

  • 5 Crunch-Certified AI Tools

  • AI-Generated movie trailer for Barbenheimer

šŸ”§ Wix Launches AI Website Builder

You’ve probably heard of Wix before, they’re huge. If not, they’re a simple drag and drop website builder that makes it pretty easy to build sites quick. But, they’ve decided they’re not content with just drag and drop building.

Picture this: you type a description, answer a few questions, and boom - you’ve got a full website ready to go. That’s what their new AI site building feature is.

There are companies like this out there already, like Framer, which is an unreal product. But, I always get excited when big dawgs like Wix enter the AI space because, to be completely honest, they’ve got the money to make something great. In my eyes, the more competition, the better it is for all the consumers out there.

Wix says they’ve got more AI features coming, so I’m pumped to see what’s to come over the next few months.

šŸŽ Apple’s New ChatGPT Competitor

Buckle in, this is huge news. Just yesterday, Apple announced it’s not shying away from AI any longer. A new suite of AI Apple products, including it’s ChatGPT competitor ā€œApple GPTā€.

I did as much digging as I possibly could, but you know Apple - they don’t really give too much away. There’s no official release, but there is a rumor that they’re going to have a MASSIVE AI announcement in 2024.

After the WWDC this year, most people were shocked Apple didn’t explicitly mention AI… not even once. Well here it is for all the shocked folks out there.

Here’s why I’m excited: We desperately needed Apple to enter the AI sphere. Why? My first reason is they’ve proven their commitment to privacy that I can’t say are the same for other companies. They didn’t flinch at all when it came to dropping a bomb on the advertising industry with iOS 14, causing a panic among advertisers as they scrambled for other ways to collect user data.

Reason number 2, is that Apple has always lived by a motto I find to be very admirable. I can’t find the exact quote, but CEO Tim Cook said something like, ā€œWe don’t pride ourselves on being first, we pride ourselves on being the best.ā€

And when I look at Apple's track record, that statement kinda gives me the chills. That’s a statement that shows me a company that truly cares about user experience, not just ā€œimproving profits for shareholdersā€ by getting to market first.

We’re entering a new era now. One that I personally have been waiting for since ChatGPT came out. An era where AI will enter itself into the Apple software seamlessly, but more importantly, will enter itself into the lives of everyday people, not just AI enthusiasts.

Alright, I’m going on a tangent, but I’ve got one last thing:

Will Siri finally turn into JARVIS from Iron Man, like it was inspired by?

My optimistic mind says yes.

🄓 ChatGPT Is Getting Dumber

There’s been a lot of speculation and anecdotal evidence of ChatGPT becoming, well… stupid.

But, now we’re getting some research to back up those claims.

A new study suggests the chatbot's skills are deteriorating. Stanford and UC Berkeley researchers tested the bot's math, coding, and reasoning chops.

The results? Its score on a math challenge of determining prime numbers, dropped from 97.6% in March to just 2.4% in June. šŸ˜±

This is pretty upsetting. Open AI claims the reason is because of the new ā€œsafety measuresā€ are limiting it’s brain power.

On a larger scale the AI hype has been slowing down, and in my opinion, things like this are the reason why. We’ve gone from the past few months of constant innovation, to now - where big companies are slowly being bogged down by bureaucracy, acting from a place of fear rather than curiosity and excitement about what’s possible.

The silver lining? In the long run, this will only open up competition even more, leading to better products on the horizon, as they scratch and claw at one another to create the best AI tools available.

Who knew ChatGPT could age poorly?
